What We Know
-
On match days, pedestrian access in and out of Stadium–Chinatown Station will be detoured. Commuters are advised to exit at Main Street–Science World Station. Expect pedestrian traffic, crowded trains and fan overflow onto Main street as the Quebec street corridor is the primary spectator route to matches, including FIFA-sanctioned shopping and entertainment (see maps below).
-
Parking in our area on match days will be extremely challenging.
-
Anyone coming to us via the west end, downtown, or the Hastings/Renfrew area will probably encounter significant traffic and pedestrian congestion.
-
As of May 23rd, Pacific Boulevard is closed next to B.C. Place stadium, between the Cambie Street Bridge off-ramp and Carrall Street.
-
Expect a lot of spectator crowding around local pubs such as London Pub nearby.
What We Don’t Know
-
How significant these closures and changes will be to our day-to-day operations. We plan to stay open with regular operating hours for the first match or two and assess the situation.
-
Depending on impact to our neighbourhood, we may decide to close the gym during some or all of the local match dates.
-
We’ll do our best to communicate any changes to our schedule or individual trainer availability as quickly as possible.
-
Your travel to the gym is most likely going to be affected, so please allow additional time to get here for your workout. Driving is best avoided if possible.
Keep an eye out on our Instagram for any schedule updates!
